Wood Reuse Statistics for Q3 of 2022

From July to September of this year, we’ve been able to reuse and recycle approximately 911 cubic meters of timber, 28% more than Q2.

That’s equal to the volume of an additional 402 whisky barrels (200 cubic meters) worth of timber more than Q2. Yet another increase on Q1‘s reuse figures! (We avoided this rookie transportation error though…)

The Breakdown

42% (381.4 cubic meters) high-grade reuse

+33 cubic meters on Q2 figures of 2022

This includes wood which is used to build our products (predominantly from reclaimed scaffold boards), and also makes up some of the reclaimed timber which you’ll find on sale in the Bay F timber yard.

58% (529.8 cubic meters) recycled

+168.2 cubic meters on Q2 figures of 2022

This is made up of leftover timber which we cannot make use of. This wood is chipped and made into MDF, chipboard or wood pellets.

0% low-grade reuse

This is timber which is reused as firewood or kindling.

In the last 9 months, this means…

2,198.3 cubic meters have been reused and recycled in total, equalling 245 van loads or 2 cubic meters just shy of the total volume of a hot air balloon!

63 van loads were made in Q1, 79 were made in Q2. But in Q3 we reused 103 Glasgow Wood van loads of timber. With 65 working days across July, August and September that’s the equivalent to one van load every day, with 27 days taking 2!

So where does this wood come from?
